ولدت توكل كرمان عام 1979، ومسقط رأسها مديرية شرعب المعروفة بالعنف والقوة في محافظة تعز، وتخرجت كرمان في جامعة العلوم والتكنولوجيا بصنعاء، بكالوريوس تجارة عام 1999 بتقدير جيد جداً، وبعدها حصلت على الماجستير في العلوم السياسية وتحمل دبلوما عاما في التربية بتقدير جيد جداً في عام 2000 من جامعة صنعاء، إضافة إلى دبلوم كامبردج في اللغة الإنجليزية وآخر في البرمجة اللغوية العصبية. حازت توكل كرمان على جائزة نوبل للسلام للعام 2011 بالتقاسم مع الرئيسة الليبيرية إلين جونسون سيرليف والناشطة الليبيرية ليما غوبوي، وبهذه الجائزة أصبحت توكل رابع شخصية عربية وأول إمرأة عربية تحصل على جائزة نوبل. عضو في مجلس شورى التجمع اليمني للإصلاح، قادت نحو مائة اعتصام أمام مجلس الوزراء اليمني لمناصرة قضايا حقوقية مختلفة منذ عام 2007. اختارتها مجلة التايم الأمريكية في المرتبة الأولى لأكثر النساء ثورية في التاريخ اختارها قراء مجلة التايم الأميركية في المرتبة 11 في تصويت قائمة أكثر 100 شخصية مؤثرة في العالم 2011 كما تم تصنيفها ضمن أقوى 500 شخصية على مستوى العالم حصلت على جائزة الشجاعة من السفارة الأمريكية وتم اختيارها كأحد سبع نساء أحدثن تغيير في العالم من قبل منظمة مراسلون بلا حدود تم تكريمها كأحد النساء الرائدات من قبل وزارةالثقافة اليمنية. حازت توكل كرمان على جائزة نوبل للسلام للعام 2011 بالتقاسم مع الرئيسة الليبيرية إلين جونسون سيرليف والناشطة الليبيرية ليما غوبوي، وبهذه الجائزة أصبحت توكل أول إمرأة عربية تحصل على جائزة نوبل.

الذي يوجع قلبي تعامل التلفزيون الرسمي اليمني مع الحدث في البداية تجاهلوه ثم تحدثو عنه على استحياء وبعد ذلك قالو أن هذا من منجزات الأخ الرئيس الذي أعطى المرأة حقوقها و فتح لها المجال حتى وصلت الى جائزة نوبل!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! متناسين أنه لو كانت هناك حقوق للمرأة وللإنسان بشكل عام في اليمن لما ناضلت كرمان ولما وصلت الى الجائزة نعم لولا فساد علي صالح وبطشه بالصحفيين والحقوقيين لما وصلت كرمان الى ماوصلت اليه اليوم ولما قامت الثورة من الأساس عموما اللي يستحو ماتو
