بقلم Samer Batter في يوم الاثنين, 15 فبراير 2010 أعلن اليوم ستيف بولمر الرئيس التنفيذي لمايكروسوفت عن إطلاق نظام تشغيل الهاتف الجوال ويندوز موبايل 7، وجاء ذلك في مؤتمر موبايل ورلد كونغرس، في برشلونة.تنوي مايكروسوفت في عائلة نظام ويندوز موبايل 7 تغيير أسلوب العمل بالجوال ليكون تصميمه وطريقة العمل به غاية في البساطة وذلك من خلال واجهة استخدام جديدة وسلسة وتطبيقات لامثيل لها مع بيئة ودية للمطورين وشركات التصنيع وشركات شبكات الجوال
تضم واجهة الاستخدام الجديدة محتويات ديناميكية لحال الجوال وأوضاع أصحاب عناوين الاتصال. يضم النظام الجديد ستة مكونات برمجية أساسية هي: الناس People لأدوات شبكات التلاقي الاجتماعية والصور لإدارة الصور وتبادلها، والألعاب من خلال التكامل مع خدمة إكس بوكس لايف
وأكد ستيف بولمر الإمكانيات الكبيرة لنظام التشغيل الجديد قائلا: " أفتخر بكشف النقاب عن عائلة ويندوز فون 7 وهي الجيل التالي من هواتف ويندوز الجوالة، وفي سوق مزدحمة تتشابه فيها الهواتف التي تنجز ذات المهام، اقترحت تحديا أمام فريق مطورينا بالطلب منهم تقديم تجربة مغايرة تماما عما هو موجود في الهواتف الجوالة الحالية، ويمثل هذا النظام الجديد انعطافا نحو الهواتف التي تلبي حاجة الناس للسرعة والاتصال والتواصل بسهولة".
هناك أيضا الموسيقى والفيديو التي تتكامل مع خدمة زيون Zune وماركت بليس لتنزيل البرامج وأدوات أوفيس وشيربوينت وون نوت.وسيتوفر أول هاتف يعمل بالنظام الجديد مع نهاية العام
